REM, a band of many styles

R.E.M. was an American rock band from Athens,Georgia formed in 1980 by singer Michael Stripe, guitarist Peter Buck, bassist Mike Mills and drummer Bill Bery. One of the first popular alternative rock bands, R.E.M. gained early attention due to Buck's ringing, arpeggiated guitar style and Stipe's unclear vocals. R.E.M. released its first single, "Radio Free Europe", in 1981 on the independent record label Hib-Tone. The single was followed by the Chronic Town EP in 1982, the band's first release on I.R.S Records. In 1983, the group released its critically acclaimed debut album, Murmur, and built its reputation over the next few years through subsequent releases, constant touring, and the support of college radio. Following years of underground success, R.E.M. achieved a mainstream hit in 1987 with the single "The One I Love". The group signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1988, and began to espouse political and environmental concerns while playing large arenas worldwide.

The most famous band mascots in Metal

Hello for you all. In this post, i´m going to show for you some famous mascosts inside Metal.

Vic Rattlehead of Megadeth

Has appeared on several covers of the band's albums, in addition to making appearances in shows of the band until today. It was created by the leader, founder, lead singer, guitarist and main songwriter of Megadeth, Dave Mustaine, when he was young. It´s inspired in the mascot of another great Metal band, Motorhead. Dave wrote the song ``The Skull Beneath The Skin´´ talking about his creation and satanic rituals.

Eddie, the Head of Iron Maiden

He is the most popular mascot in my opnion, because he appears in all shows of the band, in all album covers. It has created by the band designer in the early days of the band.

Good night for you all. Hugs

Kiss outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Kiss bassist, Gene Simmons is about to open a restaurant chain, is furious because the band never entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Simmons said he became a joke in the music the fact that the band was out of the Hall of Fame Rock and criticized the fact that pop names like Madonna and Blondie are among the elect. said that they do not belong to the Rock And Roll. "
Since 1999 KISS meets the requirements to enter the Hall of Fame Rock and Roll, which this year will include among its illustrious bands as Guns N 'Roses and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

The top 5 songs played live.

5. Avenged Sevenfold-Second Heartbeat - In 2008 Avenged Sevenfold played live in the LBC.For long been told that it was one of the best Heavy Metal shows. For me was the best show in the history of them, and since I love this music decided to leave it at 5.

4.Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive - One of the best and most popular songs from a great singer.Played at Wembley Stadium in England in 1995, this song was so well executed that does not seem to be live.

3.Megadeth-Symphony of Destruction - Megadeth is one of the best bands in my opinion, but this song is one of the best! And with the help of the vibrant Argentine public, this song was perfect.Your bottom heavy and the voice of Mustaine do a great combination.

2.Iron Maiden-Wicker Man - What I have to say about this song is simply PERFECT.The vioce of Bruce, the public. This show was in Brazil in 2001 at the famous Rock in Rio after launching Brave New World, the album's main show.

1.AC/DC-Rock And Roll Train - This song was played in Argentina in 2009, and even then old, the music is impecavel.Mais once the Argentine public showed how to make a how a show! So the best music played live for me.

The Best Music in The World (in Victor opinion)

Tubular Bells is the debut record album of English musician Mike Oldfield, released in 1973. It was the first album released by Virgin Records and an early cornerstone of the company's success. Vivian Stanshall provided the voice of the "Master of Ceremonies" who reads off the list of instruments at the end of the first movement. The opening piano solo was used as a soundtrack to the blockbuster William Friedkin film The Exorcist (released the same year) and gained considerable airplay because of this.
The piece was later orchestrated by David Bedford for The Orchestral Tubular Bells version and it had three sequels in the 1990s, Tubular Bells II (1992), Tubular Bells III (1998) and The Millennium Bell (1999). Finally, the album was fully re-recorded as Tubular Bells 2003 at its 30th anniversary in 2003. A newly mastered and mixed re-issue of the original album appeared in June 2009 on Mercury Records, with bonus material. On 6 June there were international bell-ringing ceremonies to promote the release.

Additional personnel
Production
  • Produced By Mike Oldfield, Simon Heyworth & Tom Newman
  • Recorded & Engineered By Simon Heyworth & Tom Newman
  • Mastered By Simon Heyworth
now I'll post this song live in 1973

Funny Rock (2)

Massacration is a Brazilian satirical heavy metal band, the self-proclaimed "greatest and most classic heavy metal band, the inspiration behind most heavy bands since 1985, whose members' hairdos and posing influenced the whole heavy metal culture". The classical line-up consists of Detonator (vocalist, Bruno Sutter), Blond Hammet (lead guitar, Fausto Fanti), Jimmy "The Hammer" (drums, Felipe Torres), Headmaster (rhythm guitar, Adriano Pereira) and Metal Avenger (bass, Marco Antônio Alves).
Massacration was created in the sketch comedy show Hermes & Renato along with other fake bands like samba school "Unidos do Caralho a Quatro" or the axé band "Coração Melão" (Melon Heart). But, like The Monkees, Massacration became a huge success, and a real band.

                                                                     BIOGRAPHY

After the making of the song (and video) "Metal Massacre Attack", the video began airing not only on the Hermes e Renato comedy show, but also on the MTV regular rotation videos. The promo video was such a success that the crew was forced to make more songs and videos. "Metal Bucetation" followed "Metal Massacre Attack".
In 2005 they finally finished their first album, Gates of Metal Fried Chicken of Death, produced by João Gordo, lead singer of Ratos de Porão, a reputed hardcore punk Brazilian band. The first single was "Metal is the Law". Because Jimmy "The Hammer" and Headmaster are not real musicians, Igor Cavalera recorded the drums and Blondie Hammet recorded all the guitars.
They have been requested to perform live their songs, and have so far appeared in the Abril Pro Rock Festival and Brasil Metal Union (the latter an all-heavy metal festival). Most of the humour effect of the band relies on its use of a fake English (mocking the fact that many Brazilians prefer foreign music despite being unable to understand it), exaggerate posing, outrageous clothes and gear.
The success they achieved was so high, they even have their own MTV show, where only heavy metal videos are broadcasted (which, to some, is surprising, considering the pop-oriented nature of MTV).
It is rumored that their tour drummer is Cavalera Conspiracy's Igor Cavalera. Massacration actually opened some venues for Sepultura during the course of 2005, and Cavalera actually played with them in some venues, under the alias "El Covero" (Spanish for the gravedigger).
Massacration debuted in 2006 in Rockgol, a Brazilian MTV show, in the Pirulândia team, along with Supla, Falamansa, Sonic Jr. and Lucas Santtana.

Metal and his derivations.

Good night. On this post, i´m going to talk about the metal and his derivations, because we have variations on his definition.

Heavy Metal is another ramification of rock, because he have origin of psicodelical rock. Everthing has began in the 70´s years, in UK and USA.
The variations are in vocals, drum, guitar tunning and bass, we can see: EVERTHING chance, EVERTHING!

The Thrash Metal is one of the most imporant ramification of metal, because he apperfectionned metal, giving more importance to guitar and bass. The lyrics are about politic, the vocals have variation according the band. We have bands with very heaviness on vocals, riffs and solos with effects, drums fast and tecnique, like Slayer and Sepultura, but we have bands with guitar riffs with big complexity, politisized lyrics, rapid drums but vocals not so heavy like Megadeth.

The Death Metal for me is the more agressive derivation of Metal, because he talks about death, satanism. Everthing is baseaded in the same caracteristic: guttural vocals talking about death, distorted guitars and drum more fast than Thrash Metal. Important bands of the style are: Death, Deicide

Until I came here on next friday

Aerosmith News

Steven Tyler has revealed that a song from his band Aerosmith, will be present on the soundtrack of the movie "GI Joe: Retaliation." The track "Legendary Child", launched in 1991 will be part of the movie.

despite some problems between them, will launch a new work in May. And immediately following, in June, will go on tour to promote the disc.
Lead singer Steven Tyler was accused by his band mates of torture. Information provided by the NME site reveal an outburst of great musicians of the band Aerosmith.

The bass guitar inside Metal.

Hello everbody. I´m going to show for you some ideas i have in my head about the bass guitar inside the Metal music. Remember, this is just my thoughts, you can agree or not with this post. \../

When heavy metal was a new musical genre, in the end of 70´ years, they don´t have a definided ``language´´, a right way to play it .The Bass guitar just have to function of follow the guitar, giving more ``heaviness´´ to the music, but everthing changed when enter Steve Harris, young bassist from U.K
Leader and founder of Iron Maiden, Steve revolutionized the bass inside the heavy music, because he decreased the ``copy of guitar´´, giving more tecniques to the instrument, same without theoretical bases. He produced all Maiden records, and recorded it with a Fender precision bass and guitar amps. For me, he is one of the best in the world and a inspiration for me( i´m bassist too, but do not come to the feet of his technique and creativity).
In the other side of sea, in the year of 1983,was starting a revolution in Metal: theThrash Metal( punk and rock fusion) appeared, with new bassists in scene, but that few stood out at first moment.
In that moment, one young band called Metallica, which became strike in the style, was releasing their first album, Kill Em All. The album have Metal elements, but he introdu.ced new things, like distortion guitar, double pedal on drums, tecnical guitar solos and a lost of things
In the midlle of this ``boom´´, a young bassist called Cliff Burton stood out in comparation with other bassists, because his tecnique, ``footprint´´ and musical theory have never been seen in such a way. He worked out with a Rickenbaker, ampeg bass amps and wah wah pedal effects( originally they are used for guitar). Listening to the three first Metallica albums, you will see what i´m talking about. Unfortunately, this revolucionary bassist lose his life in the midlle of a tour, in 1986. After it, Metallica never finded out a musician like him.
Talking about other things, we have a lot of creative bassist in this crowd; to see how this is truth, listen to many metal bands like, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth,Mastodon, and of course, the classic Black Sabbath, because they have a lot of contributions to bass guitar.
Its comum we see that metal bassist with big hair, banguing and playing on the right way, but in the most cases, they just play guitar in bass( producing the same rice and beans). But have  good things inside it. Watch the following videos:

Good night to all. Hughs

Some metal disks that you need to hear before you die, in Matheus opnion (part 2)

Hello for you all. On this post, I going to comment more albuns, continuing with the same purpose of the last week. Let´s see.

IRON MAIDEN: Powerslave
Yes, this is another classic album from Iron Maiden, one of the beast Metal bands in the world. This album is know by his tecnique in all instruments, long songs, and various lyrical themes. Here we have things like old Egypt, war, airplanes and a lot of cool and worked things, produced with competence. This tour of this album marks the first show of the band here in Brazil, in the first Rock In Rio edition, in the year of 1985. To the band members, this is one of the shows that more marked the Maiden carrer. Highlights go to the beautiful cover of the album, showing Eddie ( the mascot of the band) in a egyptian style. Really cool. The singer of band Bruce Dickinson says he was in Rio de Janeiro where he felt like a rock star for the first time ever.  Important songs are: Aces High, 2 Minutes to the Midnight and Powerslave.

SEPULTURA: Arise
Yes, here he have a brazilian band. This is the most important band of Brazil in Metal, because it projected our heavy music to the other countries. On this album, we have a lost of dirt riffs, complicated guitar solos, a killer drum, politizised and acid lyrics. Unlike its predecessor, a heavier album still called ``beneath the remains``, this album have some elements of Latin America music, but don´t lose his heaviness in any songs. With it, the band was ready to international sucess, playing in more playing in over 30 countries and selling over a million copies, and wining their first international prize, in Indonesia. Important songs are: Arise, Dead Embryonic Cells, Desperate Cry and Subatraction. \../

Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power
This is one of the best Pantera records, because he firm the in the Metal (Thrash Metal). On this album, he have a strong bass guitar, one of the most heavy drum I have heard in my life, a powerful voice, and of course, the revolucionary guitar riffs of the guitarrist Dimebag Darrel, that marked not only the metal, but the guitar in general. The tour of this album brings Pantera for Brazil for the first time, in 1993, realizing shows in Sao Paulo. Pantera also know by their addiction in alcohol, making the band's live performances marked and indistinguishable, since that few bands could play with an utterly distinctive footprint. Unfortunately, alcohol also began to create problems that later would bring the end of this revolutionary band. Listen to the following songs: Mouth of War, Rise,  A New Level , This Love and Walk.

Readers, I have to leave at this time. Hugs

Good News 4 classical Fans

Seiji Ozawa, the most famous conductor of Japan promise on Tuesday (13) return to the stage next year, a week after it said it would take a break to recover from its recent period of ill health, which included episodes of pneumonia .
"Until now I had great faith in my own physical strength and ended up creating problems for everyone," Ozawa told the newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun in an interview.

"I'll take a different path to rehabilitation and, from next spring, little by little I will resume my activities."

I think that he isn't young anymore, and with that age (77) he can't trust a lot in his health. Now, what about a classical song to relax??? :D
OH YEAH!
